An update
Strengthening Employment Pathways – an update from Southern Employment and Training Network.
A regional jobs hub to serve the Huon Valley, Channel and Bruny Island region is one step closer with the appointment of an Executive Officer for the Southern Employment and Training Network (SETN), and commencement of a regional workforce planning study by KPMG.
The Southern Employment and Training Network is the seventh Jobs Hub in the Regional Jobs Hub Network to be established by the Tasmanian Government through Jobs Tasmania to help businesses find employees and to get more Tasmanians into meaningful work.
SETN’s focus is to increase employment opportunities, participation, and access to training for people living in the region, by referring jobseekers within the community to training and skill development opportunities, specialised employment services, and local job vacancies. SETN will support employers to connect with local jobseekers and assist industry to plan for future workforce demands.
Erin van Nieuwkuyk was appointed to the role of Executive Officer to establish connections with employers, jobseekers and service providers within the region, and oversee the regional workforce planning study. A Huon Valley local, Erin has a diverse background in administration, business development and customer service, as well as a genuine passion for working with people to create positive change.
The regional workforce planning study will involve an industry survey and in-person consultation, providing an opportunity for employers to provide insight and feedback into their current circumstances and goals for the future.
